- joining me now from washington d.c representing kentucky's fourth congressional district congressman thomas massey congressman thank you for joining me
- thanks for having me on stephanie congressman i wanted to get your reaction to the protests the riots and the officers shot in louisville
- yeah i think the mainstream media is complicit in this they're not getting the whole truth out and so they've sort of incited these riots we learned information from our attorney
- general daniel cameron yesterday that i'd never even heard of the media for instance the officers who issued the search warrant were shot at first before they
- returned fire and that maybe brianna taylor wasn't in bed but instead standing next to the person who had shot the gun so those are facts that
- i think if everybody knew about them maybe would have prevented some of the unrest that happens but nothing justifies the violence that
- happened yesterday two of officers in louisville were shot during the protest so we need to quit calling these peaceful protests yeah i mean what you pointed out was
- that this was not a no-knock warrant and there's been this media campaign the black lives matter campaign that continued to push a lie which has
- really divided our country and we see it playing out in louisville and with the officers shot and all of the violence and chaos that's
- been going on but you have to look at what's been happening over the months with the george floyd protest this was really never about george floyd this isn't about social justice this is about
- anarchy and chaos i think a lot of people are just frustrated there are people genuinely protesting
- because they have concerns about race relations in this country but i see some of those protesters and i i think they're just out to make
- trouble and some of them are just mad that president trump is is for the president and also i think part of being masked up
- and being locked down for so long has has caused us to look at each other differently i think the sooner we get this economy back
- open and the sooner we get these masks off and become human again maybe we can start treating each other like humans again yeah i'm not sure if you saw this video
- but in louisville yesterday there was a u-haul truck that was delivering signs and all these other things and we have video of it roll
- [Applause]
- let's tape let's go
- and in the video you can see things like bats and other things that can be used as weapons uh so this isn't actually a peaceful protest they didn't come in uh of course there are some peaceful
- protesters probably there but the fact is that there are a lot of them that aren't and it's very organized like who paid for that u-haul is my question
- yeah i haven't seen that video before but it it does put a question mark on whether these are spontaneous protests or whether they're organized and funded
- by somebody somebody who's hoping to see more violence and not peaceful protests and again nothing justifies shooting the police
- officers which is what happened yesterday there in louisville at the edge of my congressional district yeah and i know that there are some members of congress who want to get to
- the bottom of who might be funding some of these protests because again they're very organized somebody's spending money somewhere and i know that congressman andy biggs of
- arizona has been focused in on this we've heard that the department of justice is investigating as well is this something that you're concerned
- about yeah i think andy biggs is doing a great job there uh the question is you know could they be liable
- eventually because these we're having businesses burned down people are assaulted and if somebody's facilitating that then they're complicit
- in that violence because again these aren't peaceful protests and so i i think it would be good to know if there's somebody behind this because they should be culpable
- uh legally yeah and we heard from uh joe biden as well as kamala harris on twitter and uh they're offering their
- condolences well they're saying that they care about the police officers who were shot uh kamala harris says we're wishing them a swift and speedy recovery violence
- is not the answer we must find a way to express our grief anger and demands in ways that reflect the world we wish to see joe biden also chiming in
- uh so but kamala harris she she's not a serious person here we know that they had promoted a bail fund group that several staffers of bidens actually
- donated to it turns out that they had posted bail for multiple alleged violent criminals including an alleged murderer and previously convicted rapist
- so they can say these things on twitter but their actions is what i'm actually concerned about yeah i think their rhetoric has changed
- because they've got some polling back that shows that they're losing ground in states like wisconsin and pennsylvania that are going to matter because at the end of the day this is not who we
- are americans don't go to the streets and burn down other people's businesses or shoot indiscriminately at police and so
- that's why i think their rhetoric has changed but i'd like to see more democrats come out and condemn this the problem is the left is the radical left
- has hijacked the left and so uh they're even afraid you have some of my moderate colleagues who i think are afraid they're afraid of getting not
- just getting primaried uh in their congressional races but also they're just afraid for their own health uh if they do come out and you know
- speak out against the violent protest and call them for what they are so i just like to see more of my colleagues come out and and do what the the biden campaign has done
- but the biden campaign is doing it i believe for political purposes now because their polling shows that it's not good for them yeah i think you're right because they didn't even mention it during the
- democratic national convention uh no word about it not a peep about it but all of a sudden they see the polling then they get biden out there they have him condemning it now but we
- know he's not very honest about it he's just going where the wind blows and right now he's realizing that the american people want to live in safe communities they don't want the police departments to
- fund it it's it's just appalling to see his shift now i wanted to ask you about the war on cops uh i do believe that there is a war on cops and
- i think that the rhetoric from the left is inspiring people to do terrible things yeah oh absolutely and why would you
- want to defund the police i mean the chart the only charge uh that the grand jury and by the way it was a grand jury that decided this a
- jury of peers that are right there from jefferson county the only charge they came out with the police was one of the officers for wanting endangerment it for firing his weapon wouldn't you
- want that officer to have more and better training why would you want to defund the police i think it's actually counter to the purposes that they they
- say they're trying to promote so no we don't need to defund the police there shouldn't be an attack on the police and again i think they're going to find
- out that doesn't work for them in elections people want to live in a stable and safe country not something that looks like a banana republic or a third world
- country yeah i want to shift gears here for a second and get your thoughts on the mandatory mail in voting there's obviously a lot of concern about voter fraud president trump has been speaking out against this
- also a.g barr has also brought this to our attention that he's also very concerned i know that you had recently brought up some ballot security amendments and the
- democrats turned those down as well yeah i forced them to vote on them in the oversight committee they tried to remove a postal reform bill that was supposed
- to make sure that the elections were fair and one of the amendments and i'll just give you an example the most important amendment i offered that the
- democrats unit unanimously shut down was to make it a crime for somebody at the post office to post
- uh to back date a ballot using official post office equipment you know when you put that postmark on the envelope
- that's the imprimatur of the federal government and it should be a crime if you uh essentially forge that by changing the date on it by manipulating the equipment
- and especially if it's done for the purposes of submitting a ballot after election day and before the election has been
- decided would you believe every democrat voted against that amendment to make that clearly a crime that to me that makes me question
- whether they uh hoped to accept ballots that were cast after election today and while the counting has still happened it should really
- put a question mark on what their intentions are because they voted unanimously against that amendment well it comes as no surprise because it's the same
- democratic party that allows motor voter they're the ones who don't think you need an id when you go and vote but when i go to walgreens i have to show an id to get cough syrup
- so um you know again it's just not surprising but we appreciate your efforts thank you so much thanks so much stephanie
